Crista

Whether or not to have heated tile is a personal preference. Personally i'm not big on it, but i like it a tad cool.

But there are a couple ways of creating a heated tile floor.

First - if you are putting tile on a concrete slab, or a situation where you can't access the underside of the floor, you can get electrically operated mats. Where i live they are readily available at totem and home depot. They come in various sizes, and can do an area of 200-250 sq.ft. Typically used in areas like bathrooms and smaller areas. They come with a thermostat to set your temperature and are really simple to install.

Second-If you have access to the underside of the floor you can run hot water lines to warm the floor. You install insulation as well so the heat is reflected up to the subfloor and not wasted heating the area below. The reason for not installing on top of the subfloor is so that you don't have to build up the surrounding floor around it, as it would be about an inch, leaving an unsightly lip.

Good luck

Maxie

it all depends on where you live as far as if you need the heating system, if your talking about the north east i would recommend it for sure but california or florida no, your tile installer can recommend someone to install the heating system
