sunroom
scotter98 asked:

I’m installing a ceramic tile floor and have to find a way to but the tiles up against the aluminum walls of My Sunroom and one of the brick walls of my house. How can I do this so it looks professional?

Also, does anyone know a good way to cut the concrete backer board easily?

Thanks!

Alene

You should get the tile within a 1/4 inch from the walls and then, after grouting, install base shoe, or if needed (to cover wider gaps) 3/4″ quarter round. You can install the trim using construction adhesive and using masking tape to hold it in place until the glue sets up.

Concrete backer board cuts almost as easily as drywall. For straight lines, snap a chalk line or mark with pencil and straight edge, score the line with a utility knife and from the back, opposite the score, snap it in two. Then just run the utility knife along the back of the score to finish the cut. For holes, like to go around a pipe, a drywall hole saw works easily enough, but if you find it still too tough, you can use a jigsaw with a coarse blade.
